What is Apos®?

Apos® is an FDA-cleared personalized foot-worn medical device and treatment plan that relieves knee and hip pain and addresses lower back pain.

That helps you move better, and reduces the use of pain medications, injections, and knee surgery.

And the best part, the treatment only takes up to an hour a day in the comfort of your home.

It’s backed by extensive clinical research and real-world results.

Our aim is to help people move better with less pain, thus giving them back their independence after severe pain took it away.

FAQs

Many patients using Apos® have been able to put off major joint surgeries for years — and in some cases, avoid them altogether.

In a 2023 study, 89% of people with knee osteoarthritis who were candidates for surgery didn’t end up needing it for at least six years. A 2024 study showed 80% of hip OA patients avoided surgery for five years. More studies are also being conducted on surgery avoidance for other conditions.

Your journey with Apos® starts with a clinical evaluation — so you’ll get expert guidance from day one.

Yes! An Apos® product specialist can come to your home. The visit takes between a half an hour to an hour. And once you have the Apos® medical footwear, you just put them on for around an hour a day while going about your regular activities at home for treatment.

About an hour. When you begin the treatment you start out wearing the shoes for only about 20 minutes a day. Your designated Apos® physical therapist will guide you with a personalized treatment plan.

Nope. You only need to be on your feet for a fraction of the time. It’s important to give the muscles in your back, hips, knees, and ankles time to rest. Your Apos® physical therapist will provide you with personalized guidance.

There are over 70 peer-reviewed publications showing the efficacy of Apos®. To learn more about clinical studies on Apos®, see here.

Yes, Apos® is FDA cleared for treating chronic knee conditions and is FDA-registered for relieving chronic lower back and hip pain.

Apos® is covered by several insurance plans, and we’re actively working to expand insurance options to make the device more accessible.

We also offer flexible payment plans for any out-of-pocket costs including a prompt payment discount that lowers the cost. Additionally, we offer a charitable discount which—based on income and household size—can reduce the price to as low as $1,000. This includes the personalized medical device, 12 months treatment plan and several follow ups with our expert physical therapists.

Many feel relief right away as the footwear helps realign their joints. For others, it may take 3-6 months. Long-term relief happens because, over time, your muscles learn to stabilize your joints better, even when you’re not wearing the footwear.

You wear the Apos® shoes for about 1 hr per day—at home, while you do your normal household activities. No special exercises. No guided therapy sessions. The rest of the day, live your normal life. That 1 hour is enough to retrain your muscles to correct the way you walk!

Great question! Over 20 years of advanced science and biomechanical engineering have shown us how to redirect the pressure of each step away from painful areas. Right now, the way you’re walking might be pushing pressure into those areas, making the pain cycle worse.

We can accurately measure even the smallest misalignment in your gait (the way you walk) and customize your treatment to improve it.

But Apos® doesn’t stop at just relieving pain. As the tension eases, our medical footwear also works to retrain your muscles, guiding your body to a healthier, more natural way of moving. Over time, this new movement pattern takes hold, giving you lasting relief—even when you’re not wearing the footwear. It’s like teaching your body to move freely again, one step at a time.

Result: reduced pain. Freer movement!
